In Memory of Ted Greene
(The Chord Chemist) - Legendary Jazz Guitarist
Sept. 26, 1946 - July 26, 2005

He was my teacher and "friend"....

My "Second guitar lesson with Ted Greene" on January 31, 1983...

Here we are studying "Longer Chord Progressions Using Modern Chords"
Ted's virtual insight to arrangement and harmony was beyond most human understanding and needless to say it was well beyond mine, at that point in time it was quite difficult to finger any of these chord forms (I am sure most of you know what I mean... LOL) albeit I was handed this lesson sheet that takes a look into a couple of jazzy arrangements. "Moonglow" from the movie Picnic and the standard "Georgia On My Mind".

From what I remember Ted actually ran through these tunes and that was well worth the "price of admission" and a memory I will never forget as his playing was so fluid and gorgeous it would bring a tear to your eye..! Ted could take any arrangement and on the fly transpose it to another key and substitute chords in a "never ending chain" so effortlessly and of course he would attest that it was all due to "working hard and it was no special gift and anyone could do it if they worked at it hard and long enough".

Words of encouragement!
